FAR BRETON

This is a traditional dessert from Brittany. It is similar to clafoutis and it’s usually made with dried plums. You can replace them by raisins or other dried fruits. This is a simple recipe but irresistible! Drink a French cider with it! Enjoy!

Preparation: 15 min; baking time: 40 min.

Serving 4-6

4 ¼ oz. flour

3 ½ oz. sugar

4 large eggs

2 cups of milk

3 tbsp. dark rum

9 oz. dried pitted prunes

1 tbsp. salted butter,  melted + more for the cake pan

Preheat the oven to 430 degrees F.

Combine the flour and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer.

Add the eggs, one at a time, stirring after each one to obtain a smooth consistency.

Pour the milk and whisk.

Add the rum and combine the preparation for a few minutes.

Grease a cake pan with some butter. Place all the pitted dried prunes on the bottom of the cake pan.

Pour the preparation over the prunes with a ladle.

Bake 40 minutes.

Turn the oven off.

Add the melted butter on top of the cake, put it back in the oven and let stand 3 minutes.

Serve warm.
