FAR BRETON
This is a traditional dessert from Brittany. It is similar to clafoutis and it’s usually made with dried plums. You can replace them by raisins or other dried fruits. This is a simple recipe but irresistible! Drink a French cider with it! Enjoy!
Preparation: 15 min; baking time: 40 min.
Serving 4-6
4 ¼ oz. flour
3 ½ oz. sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups of milk
3 tbsp. dark rum
9 oz. dried pitted prunes
1 tbsp. salted butter, melted + more for the cake pan
Preheat the oven to 430 degrees F.
Combine the flour and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer.
Add the eggs, one at a time, stirring after each one to obtain a smooth consistency.
Pour the milk and whisk.
Add the rum and combine the preparation for a few minutes.
Grease a cake pan with some butter. Place all the pitted dried prunes on the bottom of the cake pan.
Pour the preparation over the prunes with a ladle.
Bake 40 minutes.
Turn the oven off.
Add the melted butter on top of the cake, put it back in the oven and let stand 3 minutes.
Serve warm.
